The Sun and shadows

We have been watching what the sun does in the morning.

We also looked at the netball post shadow on the ground.

This was just after morning tea.

We looked again after lunch.

It looked as if the sun was moving. Gianni said that it was because the earth was spinning.
What do you think?

Paper Sculpture

We have been working together with Room 1 to create some paper sculptures.

We drew a circle for the face then made hair, goggly eyes and eyebrows by folding or curling strips of paper.

More Ice Cubes

Today we created ice cubes made from water, sugar and water, and from cordial. We predicted which one would melt first.....

Then we put the three different cubes on a plate and observed what happened. We took photos at 3 minute intervals.

We found that the cordial cube melted first. The sugar ice cube was melting faster than the water ice cube.

Properties of Water

We read a story about water.

When we took some ice cubes out of the freezer we looked closely at what they looked like

The ice changed into water.

The next day we went outside and placed an ice cube in the sun and timed how long it took to melt. It took almost 20 minutes. There was a difference between those in the sun and in the shade.

All that was left was a puddle.....

What then....?

School in a tent!

Earthquakes don't stop us.
We had to work in a tent for two weeks while temporary repairs have been made to the classrooms.

Tent city!

We had fun and even had to mow the grass inside the tent!

Bird's nests

What do you have for breakfast?
We decided to try something different...a Bird's Nest!

We buttered the toast then put it in the frypan.

When it was partially toasted we took out the centre and added an egg.

We said Grace before we ate!

Yum!
